SAMHSA Certified Opioid Treatment - Drug and Alcohol Rehabilitation Programs - Leesville, SC.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government agency responsible for health efforts to promote the mental health of the United States. One of its responsibilities is the administering of opioid rehab facilities, which are programs which offer medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to clients who are experiencing opioid addiction and dependency. Medications prescribed are drugs such as buprenorphine, methadone, and other drugs which help withdrawal and curb cravings for opioid addicted clients. SAMSHA certified opioid rehabilitation facilities in Leesville are programs that are officially permitted to dispense the medications used in MAT as long as they remain certified and continue to meet certain requirements. One of these requirements is that MAT individuals must also get ancillary services in addition to medicine such as psychotherapy, behavioral therapy or counseling.

An opioid rehab center can receive basic approval documentation while working towards becoming fully accredited, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid rehab facilities accredited by SAMSHA must be licensed by the state in which they operate. In addition, they need to list themselves with the Drug Enforcement Administration through a local DEA office. Once an opioid treatment facility is certified, they need to get re-certified each year or every 3 years depending on the type of certification that was granted.
