The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government agency responsible for efforts to advance the mental health of the United States. One of its obligations is the supervision of opioid treatment facilities, which are programs that provide medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to individuals who are experiencing opioid addiction and dependency. Medications administered are drugs like methadone, buprenorphine and other drugs that stop withdrawal and curb cravings for opioid addicted people.
