Short Term Addiction Treatment - Drug and Alcohol Rehabilitation Centers - Norway, SC.

Short Term drug and alcohol rehabilitation is a term used for substance abuse treatment that does not last long and usually lasts anywhere from 14 to 30 days in either an inpatient or residential rehabilitation program. Because rehab is not long, it is a great financial option in most cases and for individuals who for some reason cannot endure long-term rehabilitation.

Most short-term drug and alcohol rehab programs in Norway have psychotherapy and individual/group counseling which is basically relapse prevention. Because of the brief time clients are in treatment, most individuals will need to be fully detoxed before beginning services. One of the disadvantages of rehabilitation at a short-term drug rehab program is that many people may still be in the initial phases of withdrawal and may not be able to focus as well as someone who has detoxed and stabilized completely. This can make rehabilitation within the specific timeframe much more challenging, as people may be moody and physically uncomfortable and experiencing intense physical and emotional cravings.

Recidivism rates are higher with individuals who only get short term treatment as opposed to long term. Clients who participate in short term substance abuse rehabilitation and then transition into an intensive outpatient program or day rehab program at least have more of a chance of staying sober because they will maintain a support system while they transition to a sober lifestyle.
