SAMHSA Certified Opioid Treatment - Drug and Alcohol Rehab Centers - Round O, SC.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government department responsible for efforts to advance the behavioral health of the nation. One of its responsibilities is the administering of opioid rehabilitation facilities, which are centers which provide medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to individuals who are in the midst of opioid addiction and dependency. Medicine given are drugs such as methadone, buprenorphine and other drugs that help withdrawal and curb cravings for opioid addicted clients. SAMSHA certified opioid treatment programs in Round O are programs which are legally allowed to distribute the drugs used in MAT as long as they remain certified and always maintain the necessary requirements. One of these requirements is that MAT clients must also receive auxiliary services aside from medicine such as psychotherapy, behavioral therapy or counseling.

An opioid rehabilitation center can get their initial certification while working towards becoming fully accredited, however, are required to get their full accreditation in a year. Opioid rehab facilities accredited by SAMSHA must be licensed by the state in which they operate. Likewise, they need to list themselves with the Drug Enforcement Administration via a local DEA branch. Once an opioid rehab program is certified, it must be re-certified every year or every three years contingent upon the type of certification it has been given.
