The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government department responsible for efforts to advance the behavioral health of the nation. One of its responsibilities is the administering of opioid rehabilitation facilities, which are centers which provide medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to individuals who are in the midst of opioid addiction and dependency. Medicine given are drugs such as methadone, buprenorphine and other drugs that help withdrawal and curb cravings for opioid addicted clients. SAMSHA certified opioid treatment programs in Round O are programs which are legally allowed to distribute the drugs used in MAT as long as they remain certified and always maintain the necessary requirements.
