SAMHSA Certified Opioid Treatment - Drug and Alcohol Rehabilitation Programs - Scranton, SC.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government agency in charge of health efforts to promote the mental health of the United States. One of its obligations is the oversight of opioid rehab facilities, which are centers which provide medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to people who are in the midst of opioid addiction and dependency. Drug prescribed are drugs such as methadone, buprenorphine and other drugs that stop withdrawal and curb cravings for opioid dependent individuals. SAMSHA certified opioid rehab facilities in Scranton are programs who are legally allowed to give out the drugs used in MAT as long as they remain certified and continue to meet certain requirements. One of these requirements is that MAT individuals must also get ancillary benefits aside from medication such as psychotherapy, behavioral therapy or counseling.

An opioid rehabilitation center can get their initial approval documentation while they endeavor to get their full accreditation, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid treatment facilities authorized by SAMSHA must be licensed by the state in which they operate. Likewise, they must register with the Drug Enforcement Administration via a local DEA office. Once an opioid rehabilitation center is certified, it must be re-certified each year or every three years depending on the type of accreditation that was granted.
