Young adults between the ages of 18 and 24 years old are offered drug and alcohol treatment facilities created specifically for this age group. The most beneficial treatment offered to young adults is at an inpatient treatment program in Agar which delivers a broader range of services than outpatient programs. Substance abuse issues and co-occurring mental health disorders can be handled concurrently in drug treatment programs for young adults which have therapists or psychologists on staff to treat co-occurring disorders.
Young adults involved in treatment programs which cater to their age group benefit from having the peer support available and the compassion of rehabilitation staff who are commonly skilled and knowledgeable at treating these youths.
The length of treatment can vary in young adult rehab programs, and this is often dependent on the client's progress during the program. The more severe the issue is, the longer it could be suggested that the young adult stays in the program. If outpatient therapy is the only option available, this too should be comprehensive enough to meet the client's needs. For instance, there are outpatient programs for young adults which merely require the client to attend therapy and counseling 1 or 2 times per week, and there are programs which require daily participation.
