The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government department in charge of efforts to advance the behavioral health of the nation. One of its responsibilities is the supervision of opioid rehabilitation facilities, which are programs which offer medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to individuals who are in the midst of opioid dependency and addiction. Medications prescribed are drugs such as methadone, buprenorphine and other drugs which help curb cravings and withdrawal for opioid dependent people.
