An opioid rehab facility can receive initial certification while they endeavor to get their full accreditation, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid rehabilitation programs authorized by SAMSHA must be licensed by the state in which they operate. In addition, they need to list themselves with the Drug Enforcement Administration via a local DEA branch. Once an opioid rehab facility is certified, they need to get re-certified each year or every three years depending on the kind of certification that was granted.
