Drug administered are drugs like methadone, buprenorphine and other drugs that help withdrawal and curb cravings for opioid dependent people. One of these requirements is that MAT individuals must also receive auxiliary services aside from medication such as psychotherapy, behavioral therapy or counseling.

An opioid rehabilitation center can receive basic approval documentation while working towards becoming fully accredited, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid rehab programs authorized by SAMSHA need to get licensed also by their own state. Likewise, they must register with the Drug Enforcement Administration through a local DEA branch. Once an opioid treatment facility is approved to operate, they need to get re-certified every year or every three years depending on the type of accreditation that was given.
