The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government department in charge of efforts to advance the mental health of the U.S.. One of its responsibilities is the administering of opioid rehabilitation facilities, which are programs that provide medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to individuals who are in the midst of opioid addiction and dependency. Medications prescribed are drugs like buprenorphine, methadone, and other drugs which help curb cravings and withdrawal for opioid dependent clients. SAMSHA certified opioid treatment centers in Hecla are programs that are officially permitted to dispense the medicines used in MAT as long as they remain certified and continue to meet certain requirements.
