SAMHSA Certified Opioid Treatment - Alcohol and Drug Treatment Programs - Herrick, SD.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government department in charge of efforts to promote the mental health of the nation. One of its duties is the supervision of opioid rehab facilities, which are centers which provide medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to clients who are in the midst of opioid dependency and addiction. Medications administered are drugs such as methadone, buprenorphine and other drugs which stop withdrawal and curb cravings for opioid addicted individuals. SAMSHA certified opioid treatment centers in Herrick are programs who are legally permitted to dispense the drugs used in MAT being they remain certified and continue to meet certain requirements. One of these requirements is that MAT individuals must also receive ancillary benefits in addition to medication such as counseling or behavioral therapy.

An opioid rehabilitation center can get their basic certification while working towards becoming fully accredited, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid rehabilitation facilities authorized by SAMSHA must be licensed by the state in which they operate. In addition, they must register with the Drug Enforcement Administration via a local DEA office. Once an opioid rehab center is certified, it must be re-certified every year or every 3 years depending on the type of certification that was given.
