SAMHSA Certified Opioid Treatment - Drug and Alcohol Rehab Centers - Nemo, SD.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government department responsible for efforts to promote the mental health of the nation. One of its obligations is the supervision of opioid treatment facilities, which are centers which offer medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to clients who are in the midst of opioid addiction and dependency. Medicine prescribed are drugs such as methadone, buprenorphine and other drugs that help withdrawal and curb cravings for opioid addicted people. SAMSHA certified opioid rehabilitation facilities in Nemo are programs that are legally allowed to give out the medicines used in MAT being they remain certified and always maintain the necessary requirements. One of these requirements is that MAT clients must also receive auxiliary benefits in addition to medicine such as counseling or behavioral therapy.

An opioid treatment facility can receive initial certification while they endeavor to get their full accreditation, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid rehabilitation programs accredited by SAMSHA need to get licensed also by their own state. In addition, they must register with the Drug Enforcement Administration through a local DEA office. Once an opioid rehabilitation program is certified, it must be re-certified every year or every 3 years contingent upon the type of accreditation it has been granted.
