The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government agency in charge of health efforts to advance the behavioral health of the United States. One of its duties is the supervision of opioid rehabilitation programs, which are programs who provide medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to clients who are experiencing opioid addiction and dependency. Medicine administered are drugs such as methadone, buprenorphine and other drugs which help curb cravings and withdrawal for opioid addicted people.
