An opioid rehab facility can receive initial certification while they endeavor to get their full accreditation, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid rehab programs accredited by SAMSHA need to get licensed also by their own state. Likewise, they need to list themselves with the Drug Enforcement Administration through a local DEA branch. Once an opioid treatment facility is certified, it must be re-certified each year or every three years contingent upon the type of accreditation it has been granted.
