The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government department in charge of efforts to promote the mental health of the U.S.. One of its duties is the administering of opioid treatment programs, which are centers that provide medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to individuals who are experiencing opioid addiction and dependency. Medicine administered are drugs like buprenorphine, methadone, and other drugs that help curb cravings and withdrawal for opioid addicted individuals.
