Naltrexone is an additional med taken in opioid maintenance therapy, but unlike the other medications aforementioned it's an opiate blocker and isn't an opiate. A person has the choice to take this drug as a monthly injection, which is called Vivitrol. As an opioid blocker, the drug prevents someone from feeling high from opioids, and therefore lowers the risk associated with relapse. This daily shot costs anywhere from $1000 to $1200 monthly.
