Outpatient Methadone Buprenorphine or Vivitrol - Alcohol and Drug Rehabilitation Facilities - Atlanta, TX.

One of the outpatient rehabilitation alternatives for individuals in Atlanta who are battling with opioid dependence and addiction is called opioid maintenance therapy. Licensed clinics and doctors are authorized to give specific medications to opioid dependent clients, many of which are opioids also and are addictive. In low amounts the individual doesn't experience being high and also doesn't experience acute cravings and is not experiencing opioid withdrawal. Methadone is the first med used for this sole purpose, but there are alternative options currently to choose from.

Methadone is an opiate and can be taken at an outpatient medical center certified to dispense the drug, which is taken daily in liquid or pill form. The cost of the med is around $150 a month. Buprenorphine is also an opiate based drug, and is a pill often taken every other day. But unlike Methadone that is only be dispensed in highly structured medical centers, Buprenorphine can be prescribed and administered in doctor's offices. The cost monthly of buprenorphine is approximately three hundred dollars a month for the generic version of the medication. There is also a version of buprenorphine containing the drug naloxone, which is a med that reverses the effects of opiates. An individual taking this version of the drug, also known as Suboxone, would find it more difficult to get high from opioids if they relapsed while taking the drug. It is also taken every day, and is priced about $450 a month. Naltrexone is an additional med taken in opioid maintenance therapy, but unlike the other drugs mentioned here it is an opioid blocker and is not an opioid. A person has the choice to take this medication as a monthly injection, and that is called Vivitrol. As an opioid blocker, it prevents a person from getting high from opioids, and in turn lowers the risk associated with relapse. This daily injection costs anywhere from $1000 to $1200 per month.
