DWI clients in treatment need to complete specific requirements to fulfill the terms of their court sentencing. Rehab facilities which help fulfill these court requirements and terms, which are typically far more lenient than regular sentencing which would include large fines and jail time, are available in Blum to deliver DWI classes, counseling, and additional evaluation for serious substance abuse problems.
Education is a fundamental tool used at rehab programs treating DWI clients. There are a few different levels of alcohol education classes which can differ by state. Level I education typically include 12 hours of group education about the effects of drugs and/or alcohol. This is the what someone with a first offense or someone under the age of 21 will often be required to do. Level II classes would consist of both substance abuse education and therapy in a program which is approved by the courts. How long a person will have to remain in therapy depends on a few factors, which can include how many DWI's the person has had, and the severity of the violation. Ordinarily, individuals will be required to take the Level II classes and therapy except for when their blood-alcohol content was very low when they were arrested and there weren't any other serious infractions when the offender was arrested.
