The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government department in charge of health efforts to promote the behavioral health of the U.S.. One of its responsibilities is the supervision of opioid treatment facilities, which are centers that offer medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to individuals who are in the midst of opioid addiction and dependency. Medications prescribed are drugs such as methadone, buprenorphine and other drugs which stop curb cravings and withdrawal for opioid addicted individuals.
