The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government agency responsible for efforts to promote the behavioral health of the U.S.. One of its duties is the supervision of opioid treatment facilities, which are programs that offer medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to clients who are experiencing opioid dependency and addiction. Drug given are drugs such as methadone, buprenorphine and other drugs which stop withdrawal and curb cravings for opioid dependent people.
