DWI clients in treatment need specific requirements met to satisfy the conditions of their court sentencing. Treatment facilities that help satisfy these court requirements and conditions, which are usually more lenient than traditional sentencing such as steep fines and incarceration, are offered in Dike to deliver DWI classes, counseling, and additional evaluation for clients with serious alcohol or drug issues.
Drug and Alcohol Education is an essential treatment tool used at rehabs treating DWI clients. There are a few different levels of alcohol education classes and this can vary by state. Level I education classes typically consist of 12 hours of group education related to the effects and dangers of drugs and/or alcohol. This is the what a person with a first conviction or someone under 21 will usually be required to complete. Level II courses would include both substance abuse education and group therapy in a program which is approved by the courts. The duration the person will have to remain in therapy depends upon a few considerations, which can include the number of DWI's the individual has had, and the severity of the violation. Ordinarily, clients will be sentenced to the Level II DWI classes and therapy unless their blood-alcohol content level was extremely low when they were stopped and there weren't any other serious charges when the individual was arrested.
