There is also a type of buprenorphine containing the drug naloxone, which is a med that reverses the effects of opiates. Someone consuming this formulation, AKA Suboxone, would find it more difficult to feel high from opioids if they relapsed while taking the drug. It is also taken daily, and is priced around $450 a month. Naltrexone is an additional medication taken in opioid maintenance therapy, but unlike the other medications aforementioned it is an opioid blocker and isn't an opioid. There is an option to take this medication as a monthly shot, and that is called Vivitrol. As an opioid blocker, the drug prevents an individual from feeling high from opioids, and therefore lowers the risk associated with relapse. This daily shot costs anywhere from $1000 to $1200 a month.
