Methadone and Buprenorphine Clients Only - Alcohol and Drug Rehabilitation Facilities - Driscoll, TX.

There are substance abuse programs offered in or near Driscoll which service both methadone and buprenorphine clients only, controlled medications that are administered in what is called opioid maintenance therapy. Methadone is a full opioid agonist just like heroin, and buprenorphine is a partial agonist, which means the same nerve cell receptors that cause an individual to feel high from morphine or heroin are stimulated by these two drugs so therefore an opiate addicted client will ideally not engage in drug seeking behavior and won't have withdrawal symptoms. There are dangers with side effects, drug interactions, and even addiction and overdose with both buprenorphine and methadone, which is why they are heavily controlled and can only be administered in a clinical setting.

Methadone and buprenorphine clients are on these medications regularly so they don't experience withdrawal symptoms, etc. but hopefully at a dosage which isn't at the same time making them feel euphoria. Euphoria can be experienced at at higher dosages, more so with methadone than buprenorphine. At clinics which treat methadone and buprenorphine clients only, treatment therapies are generally limited beyond this and the main treatment objective is to address the withdrawal symptoms and put an end to the illicit drug use. Some centers do provide a limited amount of counseling and group therapy as secondary treatment, and this is recommended and encouraged.
