Military Insurance - Drug and Alcohol Rehabilitation Facilities - Houston, TX.

The armed forces currently uses a military insurance known as Tricare to help veterans, active military members and their families obtain health benefits. There is Tricare Prime, Tricare Standard, and Tricare Extra. Tricare Standard offers insurance benefits for retired military who are 60 years of age or older and their eligible family members. With Tricare Standard they receive services from any civilian health care provider that is payable under Tricare, but also pay yearly deductible and coinsurance, along with any out-of-pocket expenses. Tricare Extra is available for Tricare Standard beneficiaries which allows access to civilian health care professionals within their provider network, with a reduced coinsurance amount. Tricare Prime is available to all active-duty members, retirees, and all qualified family members, and with this they can pick a primary care physician and obtain referrals to organizations that offer specialty care.

Through TRICARE, members of the military can acquire drug and alcohol rehabilitation services in Houston. This includes detoxification, individual and group therapy including family therapy, and other rehabilitation services. They will require pre-authorization for treatment and there are likely to be some limitations. Military insurance pays for both inpatient and outpatient, but stays for detoxification are limited to 7 days. An inpatient or partial hospitalization following detox will only be authorized if it is a Tricare approved treatment center, and there are time limits as to how long military members are permitted to remain in rehab. A 3-week inpatient stay per benefit period is typically allowed. In additional to this, there are 15 family therapy sessions and 60 group therapy sessions covered per benefit period, which occur on an outpatient basis. Family therapy is covered one after the active military member has completed prior rehabilitation services such as outpatient or inpatient treatment.
