There are both inpatient and outpatient drug treatment, but there are a few sub-categories of outpatient drug treatment in Lone Star to choose from. Intensive outpatient programs provide therapy and counseling much like regular outpatient, but on a more intensive schedule which also accommodates family and work life.
One outpatient drug and alcohol treatment type referred to as Day Treatment or Partial Hospitalization is the most intensive type of outpatient rehab out there. Clients can return to a sober-living program or home every day, but will spend the majority of the day involved in outpatient rehab activities. Day treatment and partial hospitalization outpatient drug or alcohol treatment is ideal for clients who have recently gone through an inpatient program, but still need to maintain a strong support system while becoming more confident about sober living. These programs also tend to offer a wider array of services that normal outpatient may not provide, including medication management, dual diagnosis treatment, and alternative therapies.
It isn't uncommon for clients in outpatient drug and alcohol rehab or following treatment in outpatient drug treatment to have a relapse. In these situations inpatient treatment would ideally be the next step.
