Outpatient Methadone Buprenorphine or Vivitrol - Drug and Alcohol Treatment Programs - Lowake, TX.

One of the out-patient treatment alternatives for clients in Lowake battling with opioid abuse and addiction is opioid maintenance therapy. Licensed centers and doctors are authorized to give certain medications to opioid addicted clients, many of which are opioid-based themselves and are habit forming. With low enough amounts however, the user does not feel high and also doesn't have intense cravings and isn't experiencing opioid withdrawal. Methadone is the first drug administered for this purpose, but there are other choices to choose from.

Methadone is an opioid and can be taken at an out-patient medical center licensed to administer the drug, which is taken on a daily basis in liquid or pill form. The price of the med is around $150 monthly. Buprenorphine is also an opioid based med, and is a pill often taken one day on, one day off. But unlike Methadone which can only be given in well-regulated medical centers, Buprenorphine can be prescribed and administered in doctor's offices. The monthly cost of buprenorphine is about three hundred dollars monthly for the generic version of the medication. There is also a type of buprenorphine that contains naloxone, which is a med which blocks the effects of opioids. A person taking this formulation, also known as Suboxone, would find it more difficult to feel high from opioids if they relapsed while taking the drug. It is also taken every day, and costs about $450 a month. Naltrexone is another drug used in opioid maintenance therapy, but unlike the other drugs mentioned it is an opioid blocker and is not an opioid. There is an option to take this drug as a monthly shot, and that is called Vivitrol. As an opioid blocker, it prevents someone from experience being high from opioids, and therefore lowers the risk associated with relapse. This daily shot costs in the range of $1000 to $1200 per month.
