Outpatient Methadone Buprenorphine or Vivitrol - Alcohol and Drug Rehab Facilities - Lozano, TX.

One of the out-patient rehab alternatives for clients in Lozano struggling with opioid dependence and addiction is called opioid maintenance therapy. Some facilities and doctors are certified to give specific meds to opioid dependent people, many that are opioids also and are addictive. In low enough doses the user does not feel high and also does not have acute cravings and is not experiencing opioid withdrawal. Methadone is the first med used for this reason, but there are a few more choices currently to choose from.

Methadone is an opioid and is meant to be taken at an out-patient medical center certified to administer the med, which is taken on a daily basis as a pill or liquid. The cost of the drug is around $150 monthly. Buprenorphine is also an opioid-based med, and is in pill form often taken every other day. But unlike Methadone that can only be dispensed in highly structured clinics, Buprenorphine can be prescribed and dispensed in doctor's offices. The price monthly of buprenorphine is approximately $300 per month for the generic version of the medication. There is also a type of buprenorphine that contains the ingredient naloxone, which is a drug that blocks the effects of opiates. Someone taking this version of the drug, AKA Suboxone, would find it harder to get high from opioids if they relapsed while taking the drug. It too is taken daily, and is priced around $450 a month. Naltrexone is another drug taken in opioid maintenance therapy, but unlike the other medications mentioned here it is an opiate blocker and is not an opiate. There is an option to take this medication as a monthly shot, and that is called Vivitrol. As an opioid blocker, it prevents someone from feeling high from opioids, and therefore lowers the risk associated with relapse. This daily shot costs in the range of $1000 to $1200 /month.
