There is also a version of buprenorphine that contains the ingredient naloxone, which is a drug that reverses the effects of opioids. A person taking this version of the drug, AKA Suboxone, would find it harder to feel high from opioids if they relapsed while taking the drug. It is also taken every day, and is priced about $450 monthly. Naltrexone is another med used in opioid maintenance therapy, but unlike the other drugs mentioned here it's an opioid blocker and isn't an opiate. A person has the choice to take this drug as a monthly injection, and that is called Vivitrol. As an opioid blocker, it prevents a person from getting high from opioids, and therefore lowers the risk associated with relapse. This daily injection costs in the range of $1000 to $1200 /month.
