There are both outpatient and inpatient drug and alcohol rehab, but there are a few sub-categories of outpatient drug and alcohol rehab in Rule to choose from. Regular outpatient rehab is not invasive and individuals can usually attend counseling and therapy a few times a week. Intensive outpatient rehabs offer therapy and counseling much like regular outpatient, but on a more accelerated schedule which also allows time for family and work life.
One outpatient drug treatment type referred to as Day Treatment or Partial Hospitalization is the most comprehensive type of outpatient treatment available. Clients can go home or to a halfway house every day, but will spend the majority of the day participating in outpatient rehab activities. Day treatment and partial hospitalization outpatient drug or alcohol treatment is perfect for people who have newly completed an inpatient program, but still need to maintain a strong support system while becoming more comfortable with living sober. These rehabs also tend to offer a broader spectrum of services that regular outpatient may not offer, including medication management, dual diagnosis treatment, and alternative therapies.
It isn't uncommon for individuals in outpatient drug and alcohol rehab or following treatment in outpatient drug or alcohol treatment to have a relapse. In these cases inpatient treatment would ideally be the next logical step.
