Methadone and Buprenorphine Clients Only - Drug and Alcohol Rehab Facilities - Texline, TX.

There are addiction programs available in or near Texline which service both methadone and buprenorphine clients only, medications that are used in what is called opioid maintenance therapy. Methadone is a full opioid agonist just like heroin, and buprenorphine is a partial agonist, meaning the same neural receptors that cause an individual to feel high from morphine or heroin are stimulated by these two drugs so that an opioid addicted client will instead no longer become involved in addict behavior and won't experience withdrawal symptoms. There are risks of drug interactions, side effects, and even addiction and overdose with both buprenorphine and methadone, which is why they are heavily regulated and can only be prescribed in a clinical setting.

Buprenorphine and methadone clients are on these medications regularly so they don't experience cravings, withdrawal, etc. but ideally at a dose which isn't also making them feel high. Euphoria is possible at at higher dosages, more so with methadone than buprenorphine. At clinics that treat methadone and buprenorphine clients only, treatment therapies are limited beyond this and the main treatment goal is to address the physical symptoms of their dependence. Some centers do deliver a limited amount of counseling and therapy as secondary treatment, and it is recommended and encouraged.
