The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government agency in charge of health efforts to promote the behavioral health of the U.S.. One of its duties is the administering of opioid rehabilitation facilities, which are programs which provide medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to individuals who are experiencing opioid dependency and addiction. Medicine given are drugs such as buprenorphine, methadone, and other drugs that stop withdrawal and curb cravings for opioid addicted clients.
