SAMHSA Certified Opioid Treatment - Drug and Alcohol Rehabilitation Programs - The Colony, TX.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government agency in charge of health efforts to promote the behavioral health of the U.S.. One of its duties is the administering of opioid rehabilitation facilities, which are programs which provide medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to individuals who are experiencing opioid dependency and addiction. Medicine given are drugs such as buprenorphine, methadone, and other drugs that stop withdrawal and curb cravings for opioid addicted clients. SAMSHA certified opioid rehabilitation centers in The Colony are programs which are officially allowed to dispense the medications used in MAT as long as they maintain their certification and continue to meet certain requirements. One of these requirements is that MAT individuals must also get ancillary services in addition to medicine like psychotherapy, behavioral therapy or counseling.

An opioid rehab center can receive basic certification while working towards becoming fully accredited, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid treatment facilities accredited by SAMSHA must be licensed by the state in which they operate. Likewise, they need to list themselves with the Drug Enforcement Administration via a local DEA office. Once an opioid rehab facility is certified, it must be re-certified each year or every 3 years contingent upon the type of accreditation that was granted.
