Regular out-patient recovery is mostly a less costly alternative to more intensive outpatient centers or inpatient recovery, and is the lowest intensity of formal drug or alcohol rehabilitation around in Ark. Some people are in rehab for the first time and have picked regular outpatient because that is all they can afford and time commitment and scheduling because of work, school or other obligations. In some cases, regular outpatient is a step down to service following treatment in a more intense outpatient program such as a partial hospitalization or inpatient center.
Regular out-patient treatment options usually involve some kind of individual and group counseling services delivered once maybe twice per week. Centers which offer a more diverse range of services may include counseling (behavioral therapy) to help with relapse prevention and dual diagnosis services to help respond to co-occurring addiction and mental health issues. The length of time someone remains in treatment can change from client to client, and a person's improvement can be evaluated every now and then and an extension of rehab can be recommended contingent upon these findings.
In many situations, a regular outpatient rehab program is going to be insufficient in intensity for an individual who is facing a bad substance abuse problem and has not gone to recovery before or has fallen off the wagon following prior outpatient rehabilitation.
