SAMHSA Certified Opioid Treatment - Alcohol and Drug Rehab Facilities - Ashland, VA.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government agency responsible for health efforts to advance the mental health of the U.S.. One of its responsibilities is the administering of opioid rehabilitation programs, which are programs who provide medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to individuals who are experiencing opioid addiction and dependency. Medications prescribed are drugs such as buprenorphine, methadone, and other drugs which stop withdrawal and curb cravings for opioid dependent clients. SAMSHA certified opioid rehab facilities in Ashland are programs that are legally allowed to dispense the medications used in MAT being they maintain their certification and continue to meet certain requirements. One of these requirements is that MAT individuals must also get auxiliary benefits aside from medicine like psychotherapy, behavioral therapy or counseling.

An opioid treatment program can receive initial approval documentation while working towards becoming fully accredited, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid treatment facilities accredited by SAMSHA need to get licensed also by their own state. In addition, they need to list themselves with the Drug Enforcement Administration through a local DEA office. Once an opioid rehab facility is certified, it must be re-certified each year or every three years depending on the type of accreditation that was given.
