SAMHSA Certified Opioid Treatment - Alcohol and Drug Rehabilitation Facilities - Belle Haven, VA.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government agency in charge of health efforts to promote the mental health of the U.S.. One of its duties is the supervision of opioid rehab facilities, which are programs who provide medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to clients who are experiencing opioid addiction and dependency. Medications administered are drugs such as methadone, buprenorphine and other drugs that help withdrawal and curb cravings for opioid dependent people. SAMSHA certified opioid rehabilitation centers in Belle Haven are programs which are legally permitted to give out the medications used in MAT being they remain certified and continue to meet certain requirements. One of these requirements is that MAT clients must also receive ancillary benefits aside from medicine such as psychotherapy, behavioral therapy or counseling.

An opioid treatment center can get their basic certification while they endeavor to get their full accreditation, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid rehabilitation facilities accredited by SAMSHA must be licensed by the state in which they operate. In addition, they need to list themselves with the Drug Enforcement Administration via a local DEA branch. Once an opioid rehabilitation facility is certified, it must be re-certified every year or every three years contingent upon the type of certification it has been granted.
