SAMHSA Certified Opioid Treatment - Drug and Alcohol Rehabilitation Programs - Blacksburg, VA.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government agency in charge of efforts to promote the mental health of the U.S.. One of its responsibilities is the supervision of opioid treatment programs, which are centers which provide medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to individuals who are experiencing opioid addiction and dependency. Medications given are drugs such as methadone, buprenorphine and other drugs which stop curb cravings and withdrawal for opioid dependent individuals. SAMSHA certified opioid rehabilitation centers in Blacksburg are programs that are legally permitted to dispense the medicines used in MAT as long as they maintain their certification and continue to meet certain requirements. One of these requirements is that MAT individuals must also receive ancillary benefits aside from medication like counseling or behavioral therapy.

An opioid rehab program can get their basic approval documentation while they endeavor to get their full accreditation, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid rehabilitation programs accredited by SAMSHA must be licensed by the state in which they operate. In addition, they must register with the Drug Enforcement Administration through a local DEA branch. Once an opioid treatment facility is certified, they need to get re-certified each year or every three years depending on the kind of accreditation that was given.
