SAMHSA Certified Opioid Treatment - Drug and Alcohol Rehab Facilities - Bohannon, VA.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government department responsible for health efforts to advance the behavioral health of the United States. One of its duties is the administering of opioid treatment programs, which are centers that offer medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to people who are in the midst of opioid addiction and dependency. Drug prescribed are drugs like buprenorphine, methadone, and other drugs that stop withdrawal and curb cravings for opioid addicted clients. SAMSHA certified opioid treatment programs in Bohannon are programs that are legally allowed to give out the medicines used in MAT as long as they remain certified and continue to meet certain requirements. One of these requirements is that MAT individuals must also receive auxiliary benefits in addition to medication such as psychotherapy, behavioral therapy or counseling.

An opioid rehab center can receive initial approval documentation while working towards becoming fully accredited, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid treatment programs authorized by SAMSHA must be licensed by the state in which they operate. Likewise, they must register with the Drug Enforcement Administration through a local DEA office. Once an opioid rehabilitation center is approved to operate, it must be re-certified each year or every three years depending on the kind of accreditation that was granted.
