SAMHSA Certified Opioid Treatment - Alcohol and Drug Rehab Centers - Bumpass, VA.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government agency responsible for efforts to advance the behavioral health of the U.S.. One of its responsibilities is the administering of opioid rehab facilities, which are centers which provide medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to individuals who are in the midst of opioid addiction and dependency. Drug given are drugs such as buprenorphine, methadone, and other drugs which help curb cravings and withdrawal for opioid dependent individuals. SAMSHA certified opioid rehab facilities in Bumpass are programs which are legally permitted to give out the drugs used in MAT as long as they maintain their certification and continue to meet certain requirements. One of these requirements is that MAT clients must also receive ancillary benefits aside from medicine such as psychotherapy, behavioral therapy or counseling.

An opioid rehab program can receive initial certification while working towards becoming fully accredited, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid treatment facilities authorized by SAMSHA must be licensed by the state in which they operate. Likewise, they need to list themselves with the Drug Enforcement Administration through a local DEA office. Once an opioid rehabilitation center is approved to operate, they need to get re-certified each year or every three years contingent upon the type of accreditation it has been given.
