The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government agency responsible for health efforts to advance the behavioral health of the United States. One of its duties is the oversight of opioid rehabilitation programs, which are centers which provide medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to individuals who are experiencing opioid dependency and addiction. Medications administered are drugs like methadone, buprenorphine and other drugs which stop withdrawal and curb cravings for opioid dependent people.
