SAMHSA Certified Opioid Treatment - Alcohol and Drug Rehabilitation Centers - Catawba, VA.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government agency in charge of efforts to promote the mental health of the United States. One of its duties is the administering of opioid rehabilitation facilities, which are centers which provide medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to individuals who are in the midst of opioid dependency and addiction. Medications given are drugs such as methadone, buprenorphine and other drugs which help withdrawal and curb cravings for opioid dependent individuals. SAMSHA certified opioid rehabilitation programs in Catawba are programs that are legally allowed to dispense the medicines used in MAT as long as they maintain their certification and continue to meet certain requirements. One of these requirements is that MAT clients must also receive auxiliary benefits in addition to medicine like psychotherapy, behavioral therapy or counseling.

An opioid treatment program can get their basic certification while they endeavor to get their full accreditation, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid rehab facilities accredited by SAMSHA need to get licensed also by their own state. Likewise, they need to list themselves with the Drug Enforcement Administration via a local DEA office. Once an opioid rehabilitation center is approved to operate, it must be re-certified every year or every three years depending on the kind of certification that was given.
