SAMHSA Certified Opioid Treatment - Alcohol and Drug Treatment Facilities - Charlotte Court House, VA.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government department responsible for efforts to advance the mental health of the U.S.. One of its obligations is the oversight of opioid rehabilitation programs, which are programs that provide medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to individuals who are experiencing opioid dependency and addiction. Medications given are drugs such as buprenorphine, methadone, and other drugs that stop curb cravings and withdrawal for opioid dependent people. SAMSHA certified opioid rehabilitation programs in Charlotte Court House are programs which are officially allowed to dispense the medications used in MAT as long as they maintain their certification and continue to meet certain requirements. One of these requirements is that MAT individuals must also receive auxiliary services in addition to medicine such as counseling or behavioral therapy.

An opioid rehabilitation center can receive initial certification while working towards becoming fully accredited, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid treatment facilities authorized by SAMSHA need to get licensed also by their own state. Likewise, they need to list themselves with the Drug Enforcement Administration via a local DEA branch. Once an opioid rehabilitation facility is approved to operate, it must be re-certified each year or every 3 years depending on the type of accreditation it has been granted.
