SAMHSA Certified Opioid Treatment - Drug and Alcohol Treatment Facilities - Clifton Forge, VA.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government agency responsible for efforts to advance the mental health of the U.S.. One of its duties is the administering of opioid treatment programs, which are centers that provide medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to individuals who are experiencing opioid dependency and addiction. Medicine administered are drugs such as methadone, buprenorphine and other drugs which stop withdrawal and curb cravings for opioid dependent clients. SAMSHA certified opioid rehabilitation facilities in Clifton Forge are programs that are officially allowed to dispense the drugs used in MAT as long as they remain certified and continue to meet certain requirements. One of these requirements is that MAT individuals must also receive ancillary services aside from medication such as counseling or behavioral therapy.

An opioid rehab center can get their basic certification while working towards becoming fully accredited, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid rehabilitation facilities authorized by SAMSHA need to get licensed also by their own state. In addition, they need to list themselves with the Drug Enforcement Administration via a local DEA branch. Once an opioid treatment facility is approved to operate, they need to get re-certified each year or every three years depending on the kind of accreditation that was granted.
