Regular Outpatient Treatment - Alcohol and Drug Rehab Facilities - DHS, VA.

Regular out-patient treatment is usually a less costly alternative to more comprehensive outpatient options or inpatient rehab, and is the least intense of formal drug or alcohol rehab available in DHS. Some individuals are in rehab for the first time and have picked regular outpatient because of the cost and commitment to time wise and scheduling because of work, school or other obligations. For many, regular outpatient is a "step-down" to service following treatment in a more intense outpatient center like a partial hospitalization or in-patient center.

Regular out-patient rehab services involve some kind of group and individual counseling services occurring once maybe twice per week. Centers which offer a more diverse range of services may include psychotherapies (behavioral therapy) to assist with relapse prevention and dual-diagnosis services to help address co-occurring addiction and mental health issues. The length of time an individual remains in treatment can vary, and a client's progress can be evaluated from time to time and an extension of treatment can be recommended based on these conclusions.

In many cases, a regular outpatient treatment facility may be lacking in intensity for a client who is facing a bad alcohol and drug issue and has not experienced treatment before or has relapsed following previous outpatient recovery.
