SAMHSA Certified Opioid Treatment - Drug and Alcohol Treatment Centers - Doe Hill, VA.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government department responsible for health efforts to advance the mental health of the United States. One of its responsibilities is the administering of opioid rehabilitation programs, which are centers who offer medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to people who are in the midst of opioid dependency and addiction. Drug given are drugs such as methadone, buprenorphine and other drugs that stop withdrawal and curb cravings for opioid addicted clients. SAMSHA certified opioid treatment facilities in Doe Hill are programs that are legally allowed to dispense the drugs used in MAT as long as they remain certified and continue to meet certain requirements. One of these requirements is that MAT individuals must also receive ancillary services in addition to medicine such as counseling or behavioral therapy.

An opioid rehabilitation center can get their basic approval documentation while they endeavor to get their full accreditation, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid rehabilitation programs accredited by SAMSHA must be licensed by the state in which they operate. Likewise, they need to list themselves with the Drug Enforcement Administration through a local DEA office. Once an opioid treatment program is approved to operate, it must be re-certified every year or every 3 years contingent upon the type of certification that was given.
