SAMHSA Certified Opioid Treatment - Alcohol and Drug Rehabilitation Facilities - Draper, VA.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government agency responsible for efforts to advance the behavioral health of the nation. One of its obligations is the oversight of opioid treatment programs, which are programs which provide medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to people who are in the midst of opioid dependency and addiction. Medicine administered are drugs like buprenorphine, methadone, and other drugs that help curb cravings and withdrawal for opioid dependent individuals. SAMSHA certified opioid rehabilitation facilities in Draper are programs which are officially allowed to distribute the medicines used in MAT being they maintain their certification and continue to meet certain requirements. One of these requirements is that MAT individuals must also receive ancillary services in addition to medication such as psychotherapy, behavioral therapy or counseling.

An opioid treatment program can receive basic approval documentation while working towards becoming fully accredited, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid treatment programs authorized by SAMSHA must be licensed by the state in which they operate. In addition, they must register with the Drug Enforcement Administration via a local DEA office. Once an opioid rehab center is certified, they need to get re-certified every year or every three years contingent upon the kind of certification that was granted.
