SAMHSA Certified Opioid Treatment - Drug and Alcohol Rehab Centers - Farmville, VA.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government department responsible for efforts to promote the mental health of the U.S.. One of its duties is the supervision of opioid treatment programs, which are centers which provide medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to people who are in the midst of opioid addiction and dependency. Drug prescribed are drugs like methadone, buprenorphine and other drugs which help withdrawal and curb cravings for opioid addicted clients. SAMSHA certified opioid treatment programs in Farmville are programs which are officially permitted to distribute the drugs used in MAT as long as they maintain their certification and continue to meet certain requirements. One of these requirements is that MAT clients must also receive ancillary benefits in addition to medicine like counseling or behavioral therapy.

An opioid rehabilitation center can receive initial certification while they endeavor to get their full accreditation, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid rehabilitation facilities accredited by SAMSHA must be licensed by the state in which they operate. Likewise, they need to list themselves with the Drug Enforcement Administration via a local DEA branch. Once an opioid rehab facility is certified, it must be re-certified every year or every 3 years depending on the kind of accreditation that was granted.
