SAMHSA Certified Opioid Treatment - Drug and Alcohol Treatment Centers - Gladstone, VA.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government department responsible for health efforts to advance the behavioral health of the U.S.. One of its responsibilities is the supervision of opioid rehabilitation programs, which are programs which offer medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to people who are experiencing opioid addiction and dependency. Medications prescribed are drugs like buprenorphine, methadone, and other drugs that help withdrawal and curb cravings for opioid addicted people. SAMSHA certified opioid rehabilitation programs in Gladstone are programs who are legally permitted to distribute the drugs used in MAT as long as they maintain their certification and continue to meet certain requirements. One of these requirements is that MAT individuals must also receive ancillary services in addition to medication such as psychotherapy, behavioral therapy or counseling.

An opioid rehabilitation facility can get their initial certification while working towards becoming fully accredited, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid rehabilitation facilities accredited by SAMSHA need to get licensed also by their own state. Likewise, they need to list themselves with the Drug Enforcement Administration via a local DEA branch. Once an opioid treatment facility is approved to operate, it must be re-certified every year or every 3 years contingent upon the type of certification it has been granted.
