The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government department responsible for efforts to promote the behavioral health of the United States. One of its responsibilities is the supervision of opioid treatment facilities, which are programs who provide medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to clients who are experiencing opioid dependency and addiction. Drug administered are drugs such as methadone, buprenorphine and other drugs that stop withdrawal and curb cravings for opioid addicted individuals.
