SAMHSA Certified Opioid Treatment - Alcohol and Drug Treatment Centers - King William, VA.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government department responsible for health efforts to promote the behavioral health of the nation. One of its duties is the supervision of opioid rehab programs, which are centers that provide medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to people who are experiencing opioid addiction and dependency. Medicine administered are drugs like buprenorphine, methadone, and other drugs which help withdrawal and curb cravings for opioid addicted individuals. SAMSHA certified opioid rehabilitation programs in King William are programs who are legally allowed to give out the medicines used in MAT being they remain certified and continue to meet certain requirements. One of these requirements is that MAT clients must also get auxiliary benefits aside from medicine like psychotherapy, behavioral therapy or counseling.

An opioid treatment center can get their basic certification while working towards becoming fully accredited, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid rehab programs authorized by SAMSHA need to get licensed also by their own state. Likewise, they need to list themselves with the Drug Enforcement Administration through a local DEA office. Once an opioid treatment center is approved to operate, it must be re-certified each year or every three years depending on the type of certification it has been given.
