An opioid rehab center can receive basic certification while they endeavor to get their full accreditation, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid treatment programs authorized by SAMSHA must be licensed by the state in which they operate. In addition, they need to list themselves with the Drug Enforcement Administration via a local DEA office. Once an opioid treatment program is approved to operate, it must be re-certified every year or every three years contingent upon the kind of certification that was granted.
