SAMHSA Certified Opioid Treatment - Drug and Alcohol Treatment Centers - Monroe, VA.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government department in charge of efforts to advance the behavioral health of the U.S.. One of its obligations is the supervision of opioid treatment facilities, which are programs that provide medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to individuals who are experiencing opioid addiction and dependency. Medicine prescribed are drugs such as buprenorphine, methadone, and other drugs that help withdrawal and curb cravings for opioid dependent people. SAMSHA certified opioid rehabilitation programs in Monroe are programs that are legally permitted to dispense the drugs used in MAT being they maintain their certification and continue to meet certain requirements. One of these requirements is that MAT clients must also receive auxiliary services aside from medication such as counseling or behavioral therapy.

An opioid treatment center can get their basic certification while they endeavor to get their full accreditation, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid treatment facilities accredited by SAMSHA need to get licensed also by their own state. In addition, they need to list themselves with the Drug Enforcement Administration via a local DEA office. Once an opioid rehabilitation program is certified, they need to get re-certified every year or every three years depending on the type of accreditation it has been granted.
